JSA 2025 TAX SEASON INFORMATION
We are preparing for the 2025 filing season-that means preparation of 2024 tax returns. We continually
evaluate our tax preparation process in an attempt to complete your tax return in a timely manner. The
process is very similar to last year with the exception of delivery of your tax information to us. Please
pay particular attention to the instructions in the link in the next paragraph. If you have any questions,
please don’t hesitate to ask us.
Please select a date on our JSA calendar booking page for you to deliver your 2024 tax return documents
via our portal, by secure upload link or hand delivery to our office. There are limited slots available each
day which will fill up quickly. This is to avoid receiving a lot of tax information at one time which creates
a backlog of tax returns. We use this process to control the workflow in the office so that we are not
working 50 to 60 hours per week during ‘tax season.’ Please do not drop your information by the office
without having scheduled a delivery appointment. Please click here for complete instructions.
The calendar will open February 5th. Booking dates will begin February 5th and will end August 1st.
Here is some additional information regarding submission of tax information:
-
- For business returns due March 15th, please submit your tax information by February 15. If not
received by that date, an extension will be prepared. - For business, individual and trust returns due April 15th, please submit your tax return
information by March 15th. If not received by that date, an extension will be prepared. - For extended tax returns due September 15th and October 15th, all tax information must be
received by August 1st.
- For business returns due March 15th, please submit your tax information by February 15. If not
We have all been impacted by rising prices and we do everything we can to keep our costs down. As
with most industries, our costs have continued to increase over the past year. As a result, you will see
an increase of 10% in our fees. Some fee increases may be higher due to changes in tax law, increased
complexity in preparing your tax return, additional state returns or additional reporting requirements.
In most instances, we do not need receipts but we do need copies of W-2s, 1099s, etc. In order to help
us keep costs down for preparing your tax return, please make sure to summarize your information for
us. The more we have to do, the higher your fees will be.
We hope this will be a smooth tax season and look forward to serving you again this year! As always,
please let us know if you have any concerns or questions.
SENDING YOUR TAX INFORMATION TO JSA
Please send your tax information to us electronically via a secure method. We all have links below our
email signatures that can be used to upload information to our secure portal. You can also go to
www.jsacpas.net and click on ‘Client Login’ in the upper right corner of the page.
Please note the following:
-
- If we receive information in an email that is not encrypted, we will delete the email and all
attachments. You should then send your information via our portal. We are required by
federal law (the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act) to protect client information via the creation and
implementation of a written information security plan (‘WISP’). All WISPs require that tax
information be sent and received via an encrypted method. Failure to comply with the law
can result in penalties of up to $100,000 per violation. - Per the WISP, we can no longer accept tax information via text. We will delete the text
and the attachments and you will have to send your information using a secure method.
Not only is a text not a secure method of transmitting information but the process to upload
the information to our software is very time consuming and adds to the cost of preparing
your return. - All information transmitted electronically should be scanned to a pdf and uploaded to the
portal. Information received in a spreadsheet is acceptable as long as it is also uploaded to
the portal. We will no longer accept ‘pictures’ of tax information. Those files have to be
converted to a pdf which is very time consuming and adds to the cost of preparing your return.
- If we receive information in an email that is not encrypted, we will delete the email and all
You can always mail your tax information to us. If you do, we recommend using a method by
which you can track the package. Please let us know if you mail your information. We will
let you know when we receive it. You also have the option of making an appointment to bring
your information to the office.
Please note that we do not have a dropbox at our new location.
